Tasks in Pissouri

Tip: If some tasks are close to each other but aren't in order, you could make a plan on how to navigate the village to be more efficient! Also, talk to the villagers about your quest! They are very friendly and helpful!

Task 1: Fountain

In the square of the village There is a graphical fountain with some art on it. What is the name of the fruits that there are on it (not real but sculped ones)? Can you find the history that is behind this fountain? Some villagers may help you. Take a photo of the group in the fountain with all your group with the name Task 1.

  • The fruit is called "grapes". The fountain was made with sculped grapes, because Pissouri was one of the first villages that had massive production of grapes.

Task 2: Communal Amphitheater

Communal Amphitheater of Pissouri is a new amphitheater with old designs (coming from ancient theaters); find it and find the place that you can talk and hear you in all over the place. A photo of this place with your group or a member of the group on it will be your Task 2

Task 3: Panorama

There is a point of view in the village. Where is it? Can you find it? Next to this point of view, there is one of the best Cafeterias in the whole area of Limassol County. whats the name of the cafeteria? What does that mean in Greek? Go there and take a photo of the view from this point or from Cafeteria with the people that work there.(Task 3 is the name of the photo.)

Task 4: Hill View Apartments 

We are hosting in a lovely hotel (Hylatio Tourist Village) but there is one hotel which is in the top of the hill? What's the name of that hotel? Can you visit it to see the view from there? Can we have a photo of the hotel named TASK 4? What else there is next to the hotel? Can you use your innovation for the photo in Task 4?

Task 5: Vrakas 

Also, Pissouri is growing and There are a lot of restaurants. In Pissouri Square, there is a restaurant named VRAKAS. What does that mean? How does this restaurant rely on the history and traditions of Cyprus? What is the name of the owner of the restaurant? It would be great if you had a photo with the owner of this restaurant in Pissouri square with all of your group (Task 5).

  • Harris Stylianidiss is the name of the owner and Vrakas means the bottom of the traditional uniform of Cyprus. They still have events with traditional dances.
  • A person who wears large pants ( traditional costume of Cyprus)
  • Vrakas- national uniform for men(dancing). NOT THE TOP-TROUSERS. The history of the restaurant relies half a century ago. It's an event in which people are dancing with 12 glasses of wine on their head. The owner of the restaurant is Harris Stylnidis

  • Vrakas is the traditional costume . They serve special cuisine since they started. The owner is named Haris, and has the restaurant since 2010, it wasn't there to take a picture

Task 6: Platea 

There are a lot of taverns in the square and around. Can you also find a restaurant and café? What Platea means in Greek? A photo with the owners has to also be a must for the village with name Task 6.

Tasks 7: Main Church

What is the main church of the village? Can you find it? (There are a lot of churches and small churches in the village, but we want the main one.) A photo of the group in the church is a must for our tasks (Task 7)

Task 8: Small Church Panagia Akonopetra 

Near the Communal amphitheater, there is a small church with a big hagiography of the Virgin Mary embracing us. Can you find it? What is the name of the church? We need one photo of the group from the garden in the yard of the church with the name Task 8.

Task 9: Bunch of Grapes

Pissouri last 40 years started to be a touristic place and in Pissouri there is an Inn and restaurant, which was the first to open and is open from the beginning of the touristic period in Pissouri without stopping period. Is this a restaurant? open today? What is the name of the restaurant? Can we have a photo of your group in the gardens of the restaurant? Task 9 it must be the name of the photo.

Task 10: Barber Shop

As all big villages in Cyprus our village has also a traditional barber shop with a nice and elegant barber. Can you find the place and name the place taking a nice photo your group with the barber. Name the photo as task 10 and upload it in google forms

Task 11: Monuments

In Pissouri square there are 2 Monuments in the village. Can you also find the reason for the monuments? Where is it? Who was it and what he has done to have a monument in Pissouri village? Task 11 in the photos.

  • The first monument was built as an honor to the people who sacrificed their lives in the Revolution in 21/10/1931. The second one depict a really important person for Pissouri who offered a lot.

EXPERIENCES AND FEELINGS from the Activity 

  • It was a fascinating experience! We had to walk a lot, explore the village and through this experience, we had the opportunity to take photos of beautiful places and landmarks. Luckily, local people were really helpful and eager to show us the right way, which we had to follow.
